The Proton development board is a must for developers of PICmicro applications. Whether just beginning or a seasoned veteran, the PROTON board offers a rapid solution to be realised.
| This development board includes a free bootloader application. MicroCode Loader enables you to program your microcontroller over a serial connection without the need of a hardware programmer.
|

| The Proton Development Board includes in-circuit programming connectors so the resident PICmicro® MCU may be programmed in circuit using programmers that support this feature, for example, the EPIC Plus or Serial Programmer. The development board is ideal for use with loader software,
enabling you to download your code directly to the board using the serial port
on your computer.

The Proton
Development Board comes supplied with a 16F877 microcontroller, pre-programmed
with the loader firmware. However, we offer microcontroller upgrade packs which
come supplied with a new MCU with loader firmware pre-loaded and also a new
crystal. Just slot into the development board and start programming.
*For
40MHz use, we supply a 10MHz crystal with the Phased Locked Loop (PLL) option
enabled on the MCU. The PLL option multiplies the external clock frequency by
four, giving an effective internal MCU speed of 40MHz.
The choice of options is extensive enough to make the PROTON board a single solution for a multitude of challenges.
