The Lite edition of the Proton Development Suite is a special version of the full product. As a standalone product, the Lite edition is a free and fully functional, non-expiring download which includes the Compiler, IDE and the ISIS Simulator.

Of course, because it's a Lite Edition, there are some limitations. These include

• Support for the 12C508, 12F675, 16F628A and 16F877 only
• Restriction of 50 lines of valid BASIC code. This does not include comments, lines containing only a label, or empty lines.
• The INCLUDE directive has also been disabled. The choice of crystal frequencies is limited to 4MHz and 20MHz.
